Rector's Message
 My dear parishioners and friends,
In the lyrics of a famous song are the words, “…and the times, they are a changing”. We, as a people, like things to stay familiar and too much change can be unnerving. Like you, I treasure the fond memories of the past and especially when life seemed so much less hectic. For that reason, the Eucharist has been one of the treasured parts of my life.
Years ago, 1976 to be exact, I spent the summer at Sacred Heart as a seminarian assisting at Mass and visiting four local hospitals and the RCIA program during the pastorate of Father Tony Morris. I have also served with Father John Mulroy, a Sacred Heart alumnus, as well as Msgr. Stephen Churchwell. In 1973 I had the opportunity to present Vocation talks at Saint Joseph High School located on the parish grounds.
My reason for sharing this is that returning to Sacred Heart as your new Rector and Pastor is both exciting as well as comforting, coming back to a spiritual home I have always treasured. It is also a time to marvel at the growth of our parish family over the years and the marvelous diversity of our members.
Sacred Heart is a treasure for our local church and I look forward to sharing with you in its present and future. In the weeks and months to come please feel free to call upon me, but be patient as I strive to remember everyone’s name.
May the Sacred Heart, the outpouring of our Savior’s love, fill our hearts with His presence.
¡Dios mediante! With God’s help!
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Monsignor Edward J. Thein
