Reverend John T. Howren, V.F.
Rector/Pastor
Father John T. Howren, born in Charlotte, NC, came to the Atlanta area with his family in 1980 and graduated from Redan High School in Stone Mountain in 1982. After studies at West Georgia College and Georgia State University, he attended St. Meinrad College and School of Theology in Indiana, earning a Master of Arts in 1994 and a Master of Divinity in 1996. In June 1 of that year he was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop John Donoghue. Since then, Father John has served as pastor of several archdiocesan parishes, most recently at St. Lawrence. He was assigned to the Basilica as Rector in the summer of 2020.
